austin, moving

Greetings From Couch Number One

The last two weeks in my leased apartment of Virginia were a whirlwind of packing and having no internet or television. In theory, the lack of technological stimuli should have prevented me from getting distracted while packing. This was not the case. It really just prevented me from staying on top of this whole moving thing.

I am writing to you today from my first temporary home for the month of July. I am officially out of the old apartment. Keys turned in. Belongings in storage. It feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Moving out was the hardest part of this so far. I did it all on weekday nights after work so I wouldn’t need to take more time off. While this plan worked, and was pretty good theoretically, it was also exhausting.

I take that back, the hardest part was not moving out in general, it was getting my mattress on top of my friend’s car. This feat must have been hilarious to watch. We laughed just trying to make it happen.

I think now I just have to play the waiting game until it’s August when it’s actually time to leave. The only other preparation I have to do is at work, and that is well on its way. I’m getting more excited about this move by the dat!

I just moved to Austin, TX after living in the DC metro area for 6 years. I love wine, writing, exploring and fun. When all of those things can happen simultaneously, I'm a happy camper.
